Review of Speak to me listen to me

Baroness Campbell of Surbiton DBE

Incredibly thought-provoking. It powerfully challenges the watcher to address their own misconceptions about people different from themselves. Not just disabled people but young people who might at first appear threatening, unpredictable and frightening. The viewer is then taken on a short journey from the scary unknown to connected relief and inclusion…

This is a very clever awareness raising film, where disabled young people are the empowered, dictating the terms on which they should be listened to and taking charge. It depicts some of our own stereotypes in a highly challenging but nonthreatening way.
